From Turf Battles Wiki

All characters have a set of emotes or character actions that represent various emotions or signal intention. These can be activated from the UI using the "J" button and selecting the animations option. Once pressed, a small window will pop-up on the bottom right of the screen and offer a selection of available emotes for the player to choose from.
